"Rope for Nerds: Modular Thinking & Frictions" is an online shibari workshop held on Zoom. It is the first part of the "Rope for Nerds" workshop series for rope brains who want to really understand what is going on under the hood. Ceci Ferox, a queer, non-binary sexologist who has been teaching bondage and BDSM for ten years, demystifies the foundational structures behind roughly 90 percent of shibari patterns and shows how frictions – from half hitches and munter hitches to X frictions, L frictions and half-moon frictions – create stability and different aesthetics. Participants should know the basics such as single and double column ties and bring at least two ropes; the session is recorded and sent to all ticket holders afterwards.
