About
A talk and discussion in the “DT Kontext” series at the Deutsches Theater. Claudia von Gélieu, author of “Rosa Luxemburg in Berlin”, speaks with André Mumot about the question of what we can learn from Rosa Luxemburg today to defend democracy. Luxemburg considered bourgeois democracy, which limited itself to politics and parliament without extending to economics and social issues, insufficient; true democracy, for her, presupposed people's self-knowledge and self-empowerment. She rejected ready-made political recipes and dogmatic leadership, and saw mass strikes as a way to gain political experience, prevent social setbacks and drive improvements forward.
