About
A reading with accordion music tells the true story of a refugee family whose lives were saved three times by an instrument. Dr. Sibylle Mottl-Link, born in 1971 in West Germany to refugees from Hungary, inherited the accordion of her German-speaking father and recounts its tale. The physician, known as the “doctor with the hand puppets”, presents historic photos, invites the audience to sing folk songs from Hungary and Eastern Europe, and plays fragments including “Donauwellen” and “Czardas”. The event by the Landesmusikrat Berlin e.V. is part of the travelling exhibition “600 Akkordeons. Eure Geschichten. Unser Berlin – Teil 6” at the “das Schloss” shopping centre.
