A guided tour of the New Wing of Charlottenburg Palace, offered in simple language for people who are learning German. The event is run by VHS City-West; the course leader also teaches German as a second language at the adult education centre and has worked for over ten years in the palaces of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation. She speaks slowly, with many gestures and repetitions, about King Frederick the Second and his successors, who was more tolerant in matters of religion than other rulers of his time. Participants see the great ceremonial halls and the apartments of the queens and kings and hear about love and war over the last 300 years.
