SKORT: The Fabric of Trans Identity

SKORT: The Fabric of Trans Identity

Bard College, Niederschönhausen

About

„SKORT: Deconstructing Gender“ is a lunch-time lecture and brainstorming session on the history of gender-nonconforming fashion. It is led by August, a Civic Engagement fellow at Bard College Berlin. It asks what makes a piece of clothing gendered, from precolonial understandings of gender to modern fashion, and how trans identity can subvert or play into this construction. The aim is to question the clothes we choose and rethink what fashion could look like beyond the binary.
