A gender studies talk at the Frauenzentrum Paula Panke. Using the figures of the cyborg (coined by Donna Haraway) and the monster (positively reclaimed by Susan Stryker among others), a joint autoethnographic exploration examines how these figures offer points of identification and potential for theory-building and political activism in different lived realities. Their ambivalent meanings within feminist theory, disability studies and trans* studies are considered. The collective work is driven by the participants themselves and their own experiences.
