About
„Sphagnum russowii (Latens et repertum)“ is a sound art project about a hidden moss, presented as a sound installation at ausland. At its center is Sphagnum russowii, a barely perceptible co-inhabitant of Berlin's urban nature that was considered lost for almost 50 years. Christina Ertl-Shirley approaches the moss with sounds from rediscovery sites, moss-inspired sound sculptures, and forms of linguistic and haptic engagement. She also asks what becomes visible, audible and memorable – and what is overlooked; on Nov 13 the installation runs from 16:00 to 19:00 in the artist's presence, with opportunities to participate (wool scraps, knitting and crochet needles welcome).
