St. Bonifatius, Kreuzberg

About
A guided tour of St. Bonifatius Church in Kreuzberg, a late-historicist sacred building consecrated in 1907 to plans by church architect Max Hasak in brick construction. The abstract neo-Gothic church with adjoining apartment houses became known as the „Kreuzberger Vatikan“. Burned out during the war, it received new furnishings from the 1950s onward; a highlight is Fred Thieler's 1969 colour-field work as a light foil filling the choir's rear wall. Journalist and church guide Roland Metzler leads visitors through the church.
