St.-Martins-Fest in Köpenick: Teilen macht reicher!
About
The St. Martin's festival in Köpenick opens with a short service in the open air on the rectory courtyard in front of the Catholic church St. Josef on Lindenstraße, since the town church cannot be used due to construction work. Behind the festival are three congregations: the Catholic parish St. Josef, the Protestant town church congregation of Köpenick, and the Evangelical Reformed congregation (Schlosskirche). Carrying lanterns, children and their escorts walk with a horse and Saint Martin at the front across the Dammbrücke bridge to the Luisenhain along the Spree, accompanied musically by the brass players of the Big Band Köpenick. On the castle courtyard there are St. Martin songs and the traditional St. Martin play, after which St. Martin croissants, children's punch and drinks are shared and a collection is taken for the Malteser's outpatient children's hospice service.
