The Answering Machine

„The Answering Machine“ is a psychological, music-driven arthouse drama about Julia, a young opera singer from Berlin who lives for her art. Between her family's expectations, the pressures of an uncompromising career and growing emotional isolation, her inner balance begins to fracture as the voices on her answering machine merge with sound, memory and truth. Behind the film is director José Cortés, with Ivon Mateljan, Thomas Quasthoff and Ana Fonell on screen. Music becomes Julia's language, refuge, obsession and eventually an emotional abyss at the threshold between creation and collapse.
