The Uprising Galore Ball is a ballroom event on the Große Bühne of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, where participants from Berlin, Brazil and Europe compete in categories such as Realness, Runway and Performance for a trophy. It is presented by Sophie Yukiko aka Yukiko Revlon and Wallace Ferreira aka Patfudyda Basquiat, in English, with an introductory conversation between André Lepecki and Bafta Sarbo. Part of the School of Self-Defense festival, the ball turns to the culture of protest, exploring questions of visibility, belonging and self-determination. Ballroom becomes visible as a social practice: a culture that embodies its history and collectively designs its future.
