About
The School of Self-Defense is an open program of workshops, talks, performances, ballroom events and dance theatre taking place in the Roter Salon of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Behind it are the artists Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira from Rio de Janeiro, whose work explores how violence inscribes itself in bodies and how resistance can be mounted against it through one's own movements. The school invites people to rethink self-defence – not merely as a reaction but as a practice that can be shared, in the body, in space and in community. It is curated by Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira in collaboration with Sophie Yukiko and Marlene Engel.
