This exhibition accompaniment is a guided tour through the permanent exhibition at the Tränenpalast, the former departure hall at the Friedrichstraße border crossing. It is offered by the Stiftung Haus der Geschichte and explores the main themes and historical traces of how Germany's division affected people's lives, shown through biographical examples and original objects, among them escapes and departures from the GDR and travellers' experiences at the checkpoints. Participants register at the information desk in the exhibition before the tour begins.
