Von Scham und Geld

“Von Scham und Geld” is a feature film by Visar Morina, his third after BABAI and EXIL. It tells of Hatixhe and Shaban, who with their three daughters and the grandmother had to leave their Kosovar village after their brother's betrayal cost them their livelihood. In Pristina, Hatixhe's wealthy sister takes the family in, but the apparent help turns out to be a quiet humiliation: those who give set the rules, those who receive must be grateful. The film, which won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema category at Sundance, takes an unrelenting look at the violence of economic dependencies.
