About

A round table discussion on how science should be financed in the future. It involves the Institute of Science and Technology Austria together with representatives of public funders and philanthropic foundations, including Caroline Montojo of the Dana Foundation, Michael Hengartner of the ETH Board, Martin Hetzer of ISTA and Markus Reinhard of the Nomis Foundation. As public research budgets come under pressure while the most ambitious ideas often fall through the cracks, the discussion asks which funding models enable independent, ambitious science. Public funders, philanthropic leaders and research institutions examine what works and what can be learned from different approaches.
