About
Wunderkammer is a dance work by Staatsballett Berlin that turns the stage into a place full of surprises and unexpected perspectives. Behind the piece is the award-winning choreographer Marcos Morau, the company's artist in residence, with music by Clara Aguilar and Ben Meerwein. The title refers to the historical cabinets of curiosities of the Renaissance and Baroque, where the strange and the fascinating were brought together, and from this Morau poses his personal take on the question of the ‹foreign›. With echoes of Berlin club culture and the cabarets of the Weimar Republic, the piece becomes a celebration of many voices, a homage to the ‹safe space of the night› where identities are celebrated and norms questioned. Recommended from age 14; sudden and loud sound effects occur during the performance.
