About

A ten-minute gallery talk at the National Gallery called 'Art of conversation', part of a series of talks and conversations. Speaker Erin-Jane Golding, a multidisciplinary creative, artist and cultural programmer who develops events at the National Gallery, leads it, inspired by the exhibition 'Yinka Shonibare and Thomas Gainsborough: A Conversation'. The talk asks how we should converse with art, challenging the worry that visitors need art-historical knowledge or the 'right' interpretation to engage with a painting. Drawing on her own reflections, Erin invites everyone to explore looking, questioning and interpretation, celebrating that there is no single way to make meaning from art.
