About
Benefit for Barry Green is a jazz evening raising support for pianist Barry Green, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is undergoing treatment in Rotterdam, where he lives with his family. Because of his treatment he has had to pause his performing work and his teaching at Guildhall School in London, where he is a pivotal figure in the jazz faculty. An all-star British jazz line-up comes together for him, including Ian Shaw, who also compères the show, Elaine Delmar, Dave Green, Alan Barnes, Maddy Coombs, Henry Lowther, James Pearson and Tony Kofi. The night also features Barry Green's 'Expansions' project, a tribute to McCoy Tyner, with Gareth Lockrane, Oli Hayhurst and Darren Beckett.
