About
A special screening of the anarchic feminist classic Daisies, a dazzling Czech New Wave landmark. It was made by Vera Chytilová and follows Marie and Marie, who decide that if the world is rotten, they might as well be rotten too. Abandoning the men who take them to dinner, gatecrashing parties and trashing an extravagant banquet, they turn appetite and refusal into protest, rejecting the idea that women should be obedient and decorative. The screening is presented by the Rio Feminist Film Programming Group, who stage feminist film events linking the cinema's feminist past with current urgencies.
