About
London's Day of the Dead is a free street celebration on Columbia Road and Ezra Street in East London, bringing music, dance, flowers, costume and a street procession. It is hosted by Let's Discuss Death and organised by Columbia Road Flower Market, which first held the gathering in 2017 and has grown it into a major community celebration made possible by performers, local businesses and volunteers. Inspired by the Mexican celebration of life, death and remembrance, it invites people to bring their own cultures and traditions, with marigolds central to the occasion and this year's programme including the all-female Mariachi Las Adelitas, choreographer Alondra Galván, a Day of the Dead Cycle Ride and a colourful street procession. The pub The Royal Oak on Columbia Road joins in from midday with pub games and entertainment throughout the day.
