De Gaulle: Liberté

About

De Gaulle (Part 2): Liberté is a French film set in June 1940, when France collapses and signs the armistice, and an unknown general flees to London, alone and without an army, determined to save what remains of freedom. Directed by Antonin Baudry, it follows his struggle to convince the world that the battle for France is not lost, as resistance fighters, rebellious students and determined soldiers gradually rise up to join his cause. The cast includes Simon Abkarian, Benoit Magimel, Anamaria Vartolomei, Stephen Campbell Moore and Tom Mison.

Critics

6.2Good

The reviewer praises gripping resistance sequences, strong lead performances and handsome, authentic period craft. They fault disjointed storytelling, an overlong runtime, thinly sketched, stereotyped supporting characters and uneven acting in lesser roles.
