About
Nathalie Baye: A Hundred Lives is a film series celebrating the French actor Nathalie Baye (1948-2026), running from 30 August to 26 November. It was put on by the Institut français du Royaume-Uni, screening at Ciné Lumière. Over a career of almost 100 films, Baye was recognised for her ability to adapt to any role, playing characters from a continuity girl and an alcoholic police officer to a supermarket cashier and a French aristocrat in the second Downton Abbey film. The selection offers a glimpse of the variety of films she played in, from her break in François Truffaut's Day for Night to work with Godard, Spielberg and many female directors, within a limited choice of titles available with English subtitles.
