About

Earshot Library-in-Residence is a nine-month residency bringing sound into the Iqra as a site of sonic inquiry, where recordings are interrogated and listening is both exercise and method. It is presented by Earshot, the not-for-profit organisation founded by Lawrence Abu Hamdan that uses sound to defend human and environmental rights. The Library is organised across four bodies of work: From the Field, a multichannel audio experience of field recordings, and three listening stations — The Crack and the Boom on audio ballistic analysis, Authentic Audio on AI-generated voices and deepfakes, and The Sonic Identikit on profiling sounds and earwitness testimony. A public programme of case launches, workshops, and talks across the nine months treats sound as evidence, memory and witness.
