Cosmic Breath
Ibraaz, Mortimer Street 93, W1W 7SS London, Mayfair
About
Cosmic Breath is a sound installation by artist Joe Namy made up of recordings of the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, spanning more than a century and places from Makkah to Singapore and London. Horn speakers like those on mosque minarets each softly play a different call, growing louder at prayer times. First made for the Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah in 2023, it is now shown in Ibraaz's Musalla, a space for spiritual practice. The London-based Lebanese artist presents it as part of his wider study of sound, community and spirituality.
