About
A screening of short archive documentaries from 1963 to 1975 about East End music performers, including Queenie Watts, Kenny Lynch, Lionel Bart and Georgia Brown, and how they navigated their identity as 'Cockneys'. It is curated and facilitated by Bea Moyes, a Film Producer and Researcher specialising in research-led film and public history, who is an Associate Lecturer at Birkbeck College, University of London, and CEA CAPA. The films reflect the culture of music in Tower Hamlets and how local performers helped shape the popular vision of what the East End was, driven by the interconnected worlds of theatre, popular music and film. The event runs from 2.00 to 4.00pm.
