Eve Guerra and Gaël Faye on Loss and Homecoming
Institut français du Royaume-Uni (Language Centre), Cromwell Place 13, London, Brompton
£10, conc. £8, students £5
About
An evening of conversation around heritage and belonging, marking the English-language launch of Ève Guerra's debut novel Repatriation and a discussion of Gaël Faye's second novel Jacaranda. The two authors will be in conversation with writer and critic Oonagh Devitt Tremblay as part of the French Institute's Black History Month. In Repatriation, a young French-Congolese woman brings her father's body back from Cameroon, uncovering colonial history and family silences; in Jacaranda, a young man raised in France seeks the family history his Rwandan mother has kept from him. Copies of both books will be available to buy on the night in French and English.
