About

A public lecture at the London School of Economics and Political Science on how capitalist economies change over time and what political consequences follow. Peter Hall presents his new book "Governing Growth", tracing interactions between politics and economics in Western democracies over the past eighty years. He identifies three postwar growth regimes - modernization, liberalisation and knowledge-based growth - each paired with a distinctive regime of political representation, with discussants Sara Hobolt and David Soskice and chair Cheryl Schonhardt-Bailey. The event is hosted by the Department of Government, takes place in the Malaysia Auditorium in the Centre Building, and is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2026.
