About
Hands on Ceramics is a short hands-on session at the Wallace Collection where visitors can handle real and replica 18th and 19th-century porcelain. Guide lecturers Kathryn Wilkinson and Shahina Chung lead it, explaining how porcelain was made in Europe and the secrets of kaolin, the key ingredient that revolutionised porcelain production. The session is offered in memory of Dame Rosalind Savill, the museum's director from 1992 to 2011. Places are limited and allocated first-come, first-served on the day at the entrance desk.
