About
A piano recital by the Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar at Wigmore Hall. He performs Dmitry Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues Op. 87, one of the great keyboard works of the last century. Gramophone praised Minnaar's recording of the cycle for the adroitness of his virtuoso playing and his patient expressivity in the more brooding pieces, drawing out the work's astonishing inventive wealth. The concert lasts approximately three hours, including an interval between Nos. 12 and 13.
