About
A lunchtime chamber concert of cello and piano music lasting about an hour without an interval. Cellist Steven Isserlis and pianist Connie Shih play works by William Sterndale Bennett, Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. The programme recalls Leipzig in the mid-1800s, where Bennett's melodic gift so impressed Mendelssohn that he invited him to the city, and where Bennett met and befriended Schumann. Two pieces are arranged by Steven Isserlis.
