About
City of London Sinfonia – These Memories May Be True is a 75-minute evening of orchestral music, words and stories at Wilton's Music Hall, with no interval. The concert was born from a year of conversations in a community kitchen between musicians and people seeking asylum in the UK, and explores what home means, how we hold onto it and how we carry it with us when we have to leave. The programme moves across continents and centuries with music by Reena Esmail, Bushra el-Turk, Lembit Beecher, Piazzolla, Vaughan Williams and Copland, and forms part of City of London Sinfonia's wider season exploring asylum and migration in the UK. The orchestra was founded in 1971 by Richard Hickox, and the evening features Alexandra Wood, CLS Creative Director and Leader, with projection design by visual artist Majid Adin.
