About

Laure Prouvost presents 'Mère We Sea', a monumental, site-responsive installation held as part of Contour Biennale in Mechelen, Belgium. The work transforms the chapel of De Noker, a former religious and care institution, into a fluid environment suspended between memory, dream and marine imagination. At its centre a sculptural form is surrounded by rotating mobiles and glass elements, while light and sound move through the architecture to evoke both the intimacy of the womb and the vastness of the sea. Prouvost, known for immersive mixed-media installations spanning film, sculpture, sound, performance and language, explores miscommunication and the slippages between words, images and meaning.
