A memorial service giving thanks for the life of Rod Liddle, journalist and broadcaster, takes place at St Bride's Church, the Journalists' Church. Liddle was born in Kent and grew up in London and Middlesbrough, became a journalist on the South Wales Echo, and in 1998 became editor of BBC Radio 4's Today. He also wrote for The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Spectator and The Sun and hosted his own Times Radio show. He championed press freedom, and his uncompromising, provocative writing was widely acknowledged alongside his kindness, empathy and charm.
