Natural Dyes Study Group
About
Natural Dyes Study Group is a small, hands-on workshop delving into the art of natural dyeing. Tutor and artist Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck leads a four-hour session for no more than eight participants, exploring natural dyeing through a zero-waste and permaculture lens. She demonstrates how to extract natural dye and dye fabric, with samples to take home, drawing on her practice of using kitchen waste, foraged plants and a community dye plant plot in Oxfordshire. The group also learns about the history of natural dyes, safe foraging, cellulose fabrics, non-toxic fixatives, tannins and caring for dyed materials, with all materials provided and beginners welcome.
