Reading for Resistance: Dean Atta on queer book censorship.

A public launch event for Reading for Resistance, a new campaign against rising LGBTQ+ censorship. It is hosted by Amnesty International UK Queer Rights Network and falls during Trans Awareness Week, 23 years after the repeal of Section 28. A panel of speakers including Dean Atta, a BAFTA award-winning screenwriter and Stonewall Book Award-winning author, will discuss efforts to restrict access to queer books and stories. The event also launches the Queer Stories Covenant, a public pledge for libraries, councils and cultural institutions to protect access to LGBTQ+ stories, with practical ways to support the campaign.
