Rick Owens Five Easy Pieces
Paris
About
Rick Owens Five Easy Pieces is an exhibition of work by Rick Owens Furniture, showcasing five new editions of iconic functional artworks in rusted steel, swamp wood and recycled elm. It is curated by Michèle Lamy, Rick Owens' partner and long-standing creative collaborator, who places the furniture in dialogue with pieces from her and Owens' own art collection, including works by Barry X Ball, Marilyn Minter, Youssef Nabil and Scarlett Rouge. The title refers to the 1970 movie Five Easy Pieces, which Lamy has long admired, and is intentionally ironic, as the works are among the most elaborate and technically complex creations in the duo's oeuvre. The exhibition features the monumental K Plug Steel Rust, the Pedalò seating sculptures, Tomb Chair and Stag Chair in swamp wood, a new rusted steel Double Bubble sofa, and Antler Bed displayed in its own dedicated space.
