About

A talk at the V&A South Kensington exploring the artistry of fashion styling for Black British music from 1990 to 2020. It is hosted by Dr Avis Ellis-Charles, Strategic Fashion Consultant, in conversation with designers and stylists Wale Adeyemi and Cynthia Lawrence-John. The speakers share insight into their working practices across Black musical styles, from Jungle, drum & bass, Trip Hop and UK Garage to Grime, in an industry selling sound but reliant on new visual identities. The event is part of the wider celebration of The Music is Black: A British Story exhibition.
