About
The Holy Mountain is a screening of Alejandro Jodorowsky's 1973 film, in which he also stars alongside Horacio Salinas and Zamira Saunders. In a corrupt, greed-fueled world, a powerful alchemist assembles a group of people from all walks of life to represent the planets of the solar system. After mystical rites divest them of their worldly baggage, the alchemist leads his messianic recruit and seven materialistic figures to the Holy Mountain. There they hope to ascend and achieve enlightenment by displacing the immortal gods who secretly rule the universe.

Critics
7.8Very good
Critics admire its dazzling, surreal imagery, bold symbolism and audacious ambition. They fault its pretension, excess and self-indulgence, with some finding the spectacle overwhelming and the film difficult to endure.
