About

The Nutcracker is a classic ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, presented by the Kelli Dixon Academy of Dance. It begins on Christmas Eve at a family party, where young Clara receives a wooden Nutcracker doll from her godmother, Drosselmeyer. At midnight the living room transforms, and the Nutcracker comes to life to defeat the Mouse King before becoming a Prince, who takes Clara through a blizzard to the Kingdom of Sweets, where the Sugar Plum Fairy hosts a celebration of international dances. Clara finally awakens on Christmas morning, wondering if it was all a wonderful dream.
