The World of Love

About
The World of Love is a film about Joo-in, a seventeen-year-old high school girl who keeps her thoughts and feelings to herself. She receives mysterious notes after refusing to participate in a school-wide petition signed by all of her fellow students. The title is a word play, as 'Joo-in' sounds like 'owner' in Korean, suggesting both a personal agency and the reclaiming of her story. Director Yoon Ga-eun, known for The World of Us and The House of Us, turns her attention to adolescence with a cast of young actors, many with little or no previous film experience, in a story about courage, resilience and finding the strength to shape one's own life.

Critics
Critics praise the carefully woven storytelling, lifelike characters, and a remarkable debut performance capturing teenage emotion. One also admires the fractured, patient structure and raw intensity, but faults a recurring piano score as tonally mismatched and some unsuccessful creative choices.
