About

TO BE FRANK is a non-verbal physical comedy show loosely inspired by Mary Shelley's classic gothic novel, blending high-energy physical theatre, slapstick and clowning with an original punk-inspired live score performed on electric guitar. It was created in New Zealand in 2022 by performer Michael Hockey, joined by multi-instrumentalist Alanna Hall and produced by Charlotte Pleasants. The show follows the freshly reanimated monster 'Frank' as he learns to manoeuvre his monstrous body, create a life of his own and discover what it means to be alive, exploring themes of loneliness, love and coping with the emotional intensity of life. Fresh from a sold-out Edinburgh Fringe run, it arrives for a one-night-only Halloween Special, with Halloween costumes encouraged.
