About
A screening of the film "Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness", a tense drama in which Maryam, a 22-year-old woman who accidentally killed her 65-year-old husband and was sentenced to death, can only be saved if his daughter Mona publicly forgives her live on a hugely popular television show, forcing the two women to relive the past under the studio lights. It was made by Iranian director Massoud Bakhshi, who won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic at Sundance in 2020. The screening also launches Jacques Bidou's memoir "Once Upon a Time in Production", translated into English by Holly Aylett, about producing the film; Bidou, founder of JBA Production, will introduce the film and afterwards discuss the craft and politics of producing world cinema with Holly Aylett.
