About
A screening of This Is Not a Burial, It's a Resurrection (2019), preceded by an introduction. Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese's film explores grief, resistance, and the fight to preserve ancestral land in Lesotho: Mantoa, an 80-year-old widow preparing for her own funeral, sees her village face forced resettlement for a dam, and becomes a symbol of resistance, mobilising her community to fight for their land and heritage. The film will be introduced by Misa Mlambo, a South African creative producer and filmmaker based in London. The screening is curated by Meliza George as part of 'Whose Land? Whose Lens?', a season of works from the global south presented with the National Film and Television's Film Studies, Curation and Programming MA.
