Concerts
Zoffany Ensemble: Brahms's Serenade as chamber nonet.
About
The Zoffany Ensemble, nine musicians on strings, winds and horn, play a lunchtime concert at Smith Square Hall. They perform Brahms's Serenade No. 1 in D major, Op. 11, in the reconstructed 1859 chamber version for nine instruments by Jorge Rotter, a lost nonet whose original manuscript disappeared before Brahms expanded it into its orchestral form. The players include Manon Derome on violin, Rachel Robert on viola, Anthony Pleeth on cello and Andrea de Flamminei on bassoon. The concert lasts 55 minutes without an interval.
