About

RCM Cello Ensemble: All-Night Vigil is a concert in which eight cellos play specially arranged repertoire in rich, layered harmonies. The RCM Cello Ensemble performs, with Raphael Wallfisch as curator. The programme includes Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil in an arrangement by White, Elgar's Serenade for Strings arranged by Seymour, Villa-Lobos' Bachianas brasileiras no 1 and the Largo from Dvořák's Symphony No. 9. The atmosphere shifts from Rachmaninov's emotional, goosebump-inducing masterpiece to Villa-Lobos' rousing first Bachianas brasileiras, whose title roughly translates as 'Bach-inspired Brazilian pieces.'
