About

adaku, part 2: she shivers with it is a dance-theater work presented by BAM in association with L'Alliance New York's Crossing The Line Festival. It was created by sweat variant, the collaborative practice of Okwui Okpokwasili and Peter Born, and continues a speculative trilogy about one family's fractured ancestral memories. Set in a near-future United States, it follows a young woman taught she has no history worth remembering who begins receiving sudden transmissions, opening a multitude of imaginable futures. Running 1 hour 30 minutes with no intermission, the work places Black interiority at the center of an immersive experience at the crossroads of dance, theater, and visual art.
