An Evening from the Queer Songbook: A Conversation with Taylor Mac and Matt Ray

An Evening from the Queer Songbook is a conversation at BAM in which Taylor Mac and Matt Ray discuss their new book, Bark of Millions: Queer Songs for the Living Library of the Deviant Theme. The two artists, a MacArthur Fellow and an Obie Award winner, wrote the four-hour rock opera Bark of Millions to expand the repertoire of songs documenting and celebrating queer lives. Their book brings together a volume of lyrics and essays and a volume of music with lead sheets for 50 of the show's songs, creating a canon of queer music for a joyful world. The evening celebrates the transcendence of joy over tragedy as seen through the personal histories of queers.
