About

A public evening of queer Latine poetry, at which the Brooklyn-born poet Emanuel Xavier reads from his new book of poems, "Still, We Are Sacred." It is a CC CLUE event hosted by the LGBTQ+ Resource Center and the English Department of the College of Staten Island, and refreshments will be served. Xavier's work bridges spoken word, literary poetry, and queer cultural history, and he has written several collections including Love(ly) Child, Pier Queen, Americano, If Jesus Were Gay, Nefarious, and Radiance. The reading takes place in the Green Dolphin Lounge in building 1C on the college's campus at 2800 Victory Boulevard, admission is free, and it is made possible by funding from the New York City Council to the CUNY LGBTQIA+ Institute with support from the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
