About

The Black Feminist Study Group: Session IV is the final session of a four-part program of readings and group discussions shaped by the poetics and practice of Afro-Brazilian artist Rosana Paulino, recipient of the Vera List Center's 2025–2027 Jane Lombard Prize for Art and Social Justice. It is organized and presented within her prize exhibition ¿História Natural? and is anchored by texts on interconnected struggles for liberation and resistance throughout the African diaspora. Interdisciplinary artist OlaRonke Akinmowo, founder of The Free Black Women's Library, reads from Saidiya Hartman's Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments, hosted by Re'al Christian, VLC Assistant Director of Editorial Initiatives. The session is part of the Vera List Center Forum 2026: Matter of Intelligence, presented by the Vera List Center for Art and Politics, co-convened by Re'al Christian and curated by Carin Kuoni and Eriola Pira.
