About

CORRETJER: Un boricua en la luna, con los pies en la patria is an immersive theatrical monologue about the life, poetry, love, and revolutionary spirit of Juan Antonio Corretjer, one of Puerto Rico's most influential poets and independence advocates. It is written and performed by Ángel Vázquez and directed by Julio Ramos. Through storytelling, poetry, music, historical memory, and theatrical imagery, Vázquez brings Corretjer to life as a man who challenged colonial power, endured imprisonment and persecution, and stayed unwavering in his commitment to Puerto Rico's freedom. The piece asks what it means to love a homeland so deeply that you are willing to sacrifice everything for it.
